Every message you hear on the air or see around town says “Buy Local” — and many would think it would also apply to Your Hometown Stations as well.

We are in our eighth decade and live in the country where cable TV is not available. We do not venture out of our home much, except for necessities, so TV is our maintain entertainment. Watching Hometown Stations on Dish is a 95% majority of our viewing. I imagine many folks around Limaland are in the same boat.

At 7 p.m. Jan. 11, a message scrolled across the TV screen that Dish Network had disconnected us from Fox, ABC, CBS and NBC due to not being able to negotiate a fair price with Hometown Stations for the national feed on these stations. Since Jan. 11, we have missed all the local news, weather and sports reports and most of the NFL Wild Card games.

We are hoping negotiations can be resumed and completed quickly and fairly, for both Dish and Hometown Stations.

Just an added note, our Dish bill already went up $5 in January due to “cost increases from their suppliers” for the core packages we receive.
