It is truly interesting how an ex-mayor, who presided over the decline of his city during his decade’s long administration, can have the gall to demand that a dedicated public servant like Jim Jordan resign his office.
As a former business owner in downtown Lima, I remember well the 80s and 90s when the Berger administration denied that there was a gang and drug problem in Lima, all this while the Snake Pit was an open sewer of a drug market.
I also remember that it was not safe to be on the streets at night until the election of Sheriff Dan Beck brought real law enforcement to our streets.
Fast forward to 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and the shooting just keeps going on. The local drug gangs have kept on killing each other at a frightening rate. My thought is that such a mayor should have cleaned up his act before he left office.
Local Democrat operatives have held fake nonpartisan demonstrations. I could be wrong, but the last time I looked, Rochelle Twining, Bill Angel and Perry Bush are Democrat activists, not simply nonpartisan demonstrators who support our democracy. They’re pushing the big lie that the Jan. 6th riot was an insurrection . This fiction was given front-page coverage in The Lima News.
My point is that Lima, much like our country, is now suffering from and declining due to the lack of leadership by a Democratic administration.
So no thanks, Mr. Berger, I will support Jim Jordan and the rest of the Republican candidates, as he and they are the only true salvation for our democracy and a free country.
