Last year, during the U.S. Capitol insurrection, the rioters attempted to portray themselves as defenders of democracy, saviors of the state. Very sadly, they foolishly believed their leader, a twice-impeached loser, had been cheated out of a second term. He knew better, however, his fragile ego would not allow him to admit it. After all, his ego was more important than an orderly transition of power.
Now, the rioters are standing before federal judges, whimpering and whining like puppies who cannot find their mother. oops, I should not insult puppies by comparing them to law-breaking thugs. Many of the rioters have expressed remorse for their actions, expressing dismay that their president did not pardon them.
The good news is, over time, these lawbreakers will be forgotten, and our democracy will continue.
