Letter: Lima schools levy not a new tax

As a Lima Senior High School graduate, parent, and now school board president, I could not be more proude of the Lima City Schools, its staff, students and entire Spartan Family.

This district continues to offer outstanding programs, unique experiences, interventions when needed and a caring staff that does everything possible to reach all students.

This past year and a half has truly shown the Lima City Schools’ commitment to our students and this community. We kept our doors open during a global pandemic. We made sure every student had access to meals and an education whether they were able to be physically with us or not. We continue to do all we can to keep students safe.

Like they have done so many times before, the staff stepped up and did what was best for our kids. Now it is time for the Lima community to do the same. I hope you will step up and join me in voting for the Lima City Schools renewal levy on the Nov. 2 ballot. This is not a new tax.

The 5-year, 5.99 mill combined renewal levy for operations and permanent improvements will help our school district continue to move forward. The funds assist with supplies, staff, building operations, building maintenance, technology and buses.

For no additional money, you can show your commitment to our school district, staff and students.

Vote for the Lima City Schools on Nov. 2.

Alicia Anderson,

Lima School Board President
