Letter: Brownlow a solid choice

As a proud alumnus of Lima Senior who values the education received, I write this endorsement of Cindy Brownlow, who is running for a board of education seat. I have known Cindy for close to 10 years through our involvement as board members for the (former) Cheryl Allen Center. I found Cindy to be a thoughtful, collaborative and an insightful team player who is not fearful to advocate for those she is called to serve.

Cindy recognizes that the adults of Lima are the gatekeepers of our children’s future. She recognizes that the education they receive today can very well determine their futures. Cindy’s pathway is a Lima City Schools success story and is a testament of what is possible for a student who desires to pursue his/her dreams. One of 13 children raised by a widowed mother, Cindy found a way out of poverty and into a professional career. She received her LPN through Apollo Career Center, her BSN through Mercy College and her Nurse Practitioner degree through the University of St. Francis.

As a former teacher, coach and high school administrator, I recognize the contribution a thoughtful and informed school board member brings to a school district. Cindy desires the opportunity to serve; I believe she would be an excellent addition to the Lima City Schools Board of Education.
