Letter: Lima schools levy not a new tax

Voters in the Lima City School District will be asked to approve a renewal levy on the Nov. 2 ballot. It is not a new tax.

The five-year, 5.99-mill combined levy for operations and permanent improvements generates approximately $1.7 million annually for the district, with $1.29 million of the funds supporting day-to-day operations, including utilities, supplies, building operations and more.

The permanent improvement funds help with technology, building maintenance and transportation.

I encourage you to educate yourself about the renewal levy, and above all, vote on Nov. 2.
