As a lifelong resident of Cridersville, I know we have had good police protection. Chief Robbins and his team are doing an excellent job. I know when I call, which I have done, they are right there. I know they make rounds nearly every hour and that makes me feel safe. I have seen them patrolling at all hours of the day and night.
I believe our police officers play two important roles: prevention and response. They need to be on the street, visible in the community, helping to prevent problems and crimes. They also need to be there ready to respond when problems do occur. When something happens, we need an officer ready to deal with it in a timely manner.
If we are to maintain our current level of police service and protection, the village needs additional revenue. There is a real need and the 0.5-percent income tax seems the fair way to meet the need. I encourage you to learn more about the police levy by obtaining a brochure about it from the library and join me in voting yes on May 4.
