As I contemplate the first term of President Trump’s tenure, I am reminded of how he walked over countless GOP candidates during the 2016 campaign. We also find Trump’s present campaign includes such non-Republican ideas as a ban on Muslim immigration, draining the “swamp” in Washington D.C. in spite of the fact that his years in office have added $2 trillion in debt. His scrapping of the U.S.-European accord to ban nuclear testing has been detrimental to our NATO allies. If that isn’t bad enough, we have to endure his constant barrage of snide tweets about the “fake news” reports from the great free press in American society.
Trump has been obsessed with the race issue the entire period of his public life. His constant refrain in campaign rallies: “Make America Great Again” comes right out of the KKK handbook of the 1930s! His present stance vis-via spending billions making the military much stronger flies in the face of his own record of avoiding the draft with foot spurs at a time our nation was entrenched in wars.
Finally, we hear how other nations take advantage of our wealth because we are “suckers” when it comes to imports, meanwhile we can’t ship to other nations on an equal basis! It is this message of blaming everyone for our “problems” while trying to take credit for all our “successes” which makes him appear to be out of touch with reality.
I will not be voting for Trump in November.
