Lima Manor and Shawnee Manor, long-term care provider’s part of HCF Management, Inc., a family owned and operated healthcare organization in Lima has been proactive in preparations for COVID-19.
Early in March, we took immense precautions to minimize the risk of our residents and staff becoming ill with COVID-19 while following CDC recommendations. This includes, but is not limited to locking our facility doors with restrictions on visitors and vendors, daily screening of all staff and residents, and maintaining PPE protocols. Out of further precautionary measures, gathering spaces within the facilities were closed and we found new creative ways to hold activities.
At Lima Manor, our first positive COVID-19 case was confirmed on April 8th. The resident’s symptoms presented in March and we acted quickly by requesting a test. The resident’s illness was resolved prior to the positive test received back. With upmost caution, we tested 10 additional residents, and all have come back negative.
At Shawnee Manor, our first positive COVID-19 case was confirmed on April 5th and another on April 15th, both no longer showing signs and symptoms. At Shawnee Manor we’ve tested 15 residents, 11 came back negative, 2 positive and we are waiting on 2 results.
Our goal is to always be transparent with our families and staff, and in both situations, all were notified via phone immediately. If any new information develops we will notify family members immediately.
We realize these changes to keep everyone safe has been difficult for our residents, families, and staff. We sincerely appreciate the support and understanding from everyone.
