Letter: Check out Catholic schools

Lima Catholic Schools believe parents have the right to decide what school is the best fit for their child’s education.

The taxpayer provides the funds necessary for the state of Ohio to distribute funding for the education of Ohio children, from preschool through college, and allows many options for students in K-12. Families may choose public schools where they reside, open enroll to neighboring public school districts, attend magnet schools, private schools, charter schools, online schools or home school their children. All school options are regulated by the Ohio Department of Education. Additionally, Catholic schools are accredited and regulated by the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association.

When the EdChoice program began in 2006, a faith-based education became affordable for many families. In Lima, those families have many options including three Catholic elementary schools, a Catholic high school and other Christian schools. Each school has its own unique characteristics for parents to consider when choosing the school that best fits their child’s needs. We welcome the enrollment of students from more diverse backgrounds. It has been a blessing to our schools and all of our students benefit.

This Sunday, March 1st, each of Lima’s three Catholic elementary schools will host an open house. Tours of our facilities and opportunities to speak with teachers and administrators will be available. All families are invited to attend with their children to view firsthand some of the best faith-based school options in our area.
