The intersection of Thayer Road and U.S. 30 has taken enough lives.
While the Ohio Department of Transportation may claim that the traffic numbers don’t justify an overpass or other treatment, some lower costs design changes could make a dramatic difference in the safety of this intersection. I would not endorse severing this connection, as O.D.O.T. did at U.S. 68 and Western Avenue outside Findlay. This has caused safety issues, emergency response issues and even a reduction in house and land values for the area that has been stranded on the “other side” of U.S. 68.
While inconvenient, a well-designed turn right to go left or straight intersection crossing would be both cost effective and increase the overall safety of the fore mentioned intersection.
