Letter: Media, advertisers bypassing seniors


Just read the letter about being “dumped” by the local radio station with their reformatting of their programming. It brought to my mind something that has be bothering me for some time now: the loss of my demographics in all things “media.”

What I mean is that the media has almost completely distanced itself from any of us that are labeled as “senior citizens.” All the advertising and programming on the television is aimed at millennials and other younger generations with all that hip-hop and partying, etc. The advertising aimed at us is all about health issues. Come on now, we do have interest in new cars, shopping, going out, vacations and all the things others do. Some us really did do all this stuff and still do it, ergo at a slower rate.

Please let us know that we are not forgotten and are still a part of society. By the way, I am 73 years old and am still rather active and I enjoyed my life to date and will continue to do so long into the future.
