Letter: Kind gesture reminds of the season’s meaning

Recently while out to lunch with a group of friends for our Christmas exchange, the meaning of giving really crossed my path.

We were at Western Sizzlin’ enjoying our meals and each other’s company along with quite a few other tables doing the same. Along came the server, who gathered all the bills from the different tables in roughly half the restaurant. He took all the bills up to the register, and the kind heart from one gentleman decided to pay the total of all those bills.

The Christmas season’s meaning can easily be forgotten mixed in with all the stress and chaos that goes on. All it takes is such a kind, caring act from one stranger to remind everyone the meaning of the season.

Christmas is not about getting, but rather giving.
