Letter: Help CASA help children

I encourage people who are looking to support local organizations today as part of Giving Tuesday to consider Court Appointed Special Advocates of Allen and Putnam Counties.

Commonly referred to as CASA, this organization gives a voice to hundreds of area children who are in the court system because of the unfortunate choices, decisions, and circumstances of the adults in their lives. Outside of the small professional staff, this organization is made up of volunteer citizens who selflessly give of their time to be the voice for children that find themselves in a process that is often confusing to them but a process that needs to know what the child’s wants, needs, and desires are so their best interests can be served. Many of these situations are sad and heart-breaking.

All of the services provided are done with limited financial resources and I know there are many more children that can be served as the system is overwhelmed and CASA only has limited resources and volunteers. Your financial support allows CASA of Allen and Putnam Counties to maintain its level of service.

If you are trying to find a place to house your desire to volunteer your time, I would also invite you to consider joining the great CASA team and be a voice for the many children that need a voice!
