As election day approaches, I’ve been thinking about what I want in my elected officials.
I want them to be honest. I don’t want someone, for example, who allowed an online charter school like ECOT to rip off Ohio taxpayers of $80 million by charging for students who weren’t enrolled—and then gave ECOT Ohio Auditor’s Awards for three years running!
That’s why I’m voting for Zack Space for Ohio State Auditor. He has promised to do the Auditor’s job and hold state contractors accountable.
I want my elected officials to be fair. Ohio voters took a big step to end gerrymandering last May when they voted for an initiative that will make it harder for legislators to gerrymander districts. But gerrymandering is still possible.
That’s why I’m voting for Kathleen Clyde for Ohio Secretary of State. She has promised to end gerrymandering once and for all.
I want my elected officials to be responsive to me and the concerns of my family. I don’t want them to be spending their time in Washington spreading conspiracy theories and appearing on the national news while offering no solutions at home.
That’s why I’m voting for Janet Garrett for Congress. Janet has been to Lima more than 30 times this year. She has listened and listened to constituents. And she has promised to take action on issues that concern people here in Allen County — the opioid epidemic, health care, education.
I’m voting for elected officials who are honest, fair, and responsive — Zack Space for Auditor, Kathleen Clyde for Secretary of State, and Janet Garrett for Congress. I urge you to do the same.
