Letter: U.S. must stand tough on invasion

A Republican form of government is one in which the political authority comes from the people in the United States, power is given to the government by its citizens as written in the U.S. Constitution and through its representatives.

Article IV section 4 of the Constitution says The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion: and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.

Would you let an invasion of people come into your home and demand room, board, clothing, transportation, and the keys to your house? Isn’t this invasion of people from South America, the same thing? Though I have great sympathy for their plight, why should Americans should be asked to provide for all of their needs while ignoring the needs of our own less well-off actual citizens? Don’t we already send tax dollars to their countries to help them out? How much more can we be expected to finance or this more about one world government and keeping us all in the poor house?

Isn’t it up to the people of the United States to read and know what is in the U.S. Constitution and know what rights it guarantees its citizens? Haven’t we tried to import our Constitutions to other countries around the world to no avail?
