The St. Marys School District was at a cross roads with the high school football stadium. Should Skip Baughman Stadium be renovated, or should the project be completed at the new campus where the artificial turf and 10 lane track were already in place? The decision by the Board of Education was to complete the project at the new campus.
The Roughrider Philanthropic Association was formed to raise private donations to complete the facility. In partnership with the St. Marys Community Foundation, donations are accepted on a tax deductible basis.
It was time to stop kicking the can down the road and take action. To jump start the project, Minster Bank along with Superior Credit Union have partnered to provide a $2 million line of credit. This line of credit is secured by the pledges in place. We are currently at 65 percent of our $3 million goal, but our job is not done. We need your help to reach our $3 million goal. Also, we cannot stress enough that with the passage of the levy, none of those funds will be used in the construction of the new sports complex.
