I once had a freshman student write a term paper in which she argued that, because the phrase “under God,” was left out of the Pledge of Allegiance, this meant that Christians were being persecuted in America — as sorely persecuted, she insisted, as were the Jews in NAZI Germany. I thought at the time that the most absurd, objectionable, and offensive comparison I would ever encounter. I was mistaken.
On Oct 11th, Mark Figley published a column in The Lima News entitled “From Emmett Till to Me Too” in which column he compared Brett Kavanaugh to Emmett Till.
Let me repeat that. Figley compared Brett Kavanaugh to Emmett Till.
After reading this column, I had two competing impulses: to take a long hot shower and to call the police.
Why does The Lima News continue to give this person column space?
It positively boggles the mind.
