Letter: Lima rising to challenge of #BlackMenStandUp

First, I would like to thank the City of Lima for welcoming me back home and challenging and working with me as I work alongside some of the city leaders in Lima who have been activists since I was a child.

Secondly, I would like to thank 39th District House Representative Fred Stranhorn for his participation with the Black Men Stand Up challenge alongside other city officials, Bishop Darnell Williams of New Life Church International and many others.

And lastly, Sam Shriver, because you obviously don’t know black people, your negative article (Black men missing from #BlackMenStandUp event in Lima, July 22) about our recent event not only helped my challenge, but it challenged African American men to challenge me to do another one so that they could be a part of it!

You see, one thing about black people is we have tenacity, we have resilience and resistance. What was meant for your harm, God will use to your advantage. If God is for you, who dare be against you? Black Men Stand Up Part II will be happening soon.
