I am responding to the editorial by Kathleen Parker that appeared in The Lima News on Tuesday, June 19th. In her editorial, Ms. Parker referred to the current immigration policy on our southwest border as suffering from an “inherent lack of empathy” and a “failure of imagination.”
I agree with her.
As a Christian I simply cannot and will not accept this utterly inhumane policy of separating children from their parents. This was not a political issue, an issue of Democrat vs. Republican. To me it was a moral issue, a matter of right vs. wrong.
We are a great nation and we can certainly imagine a better and more humane policy than this one.
