Letter: Truman right on political correctness

For the past eight years I’ve assumed the term political correctness was created by a group of societal engineers at a wine tasting party. However, thanks to the Truman Library and museum, the truth is known.

In a telegram to General MacArthur and Admiral C.H. Nimitz, President Truman said the following:

“Political correctness is a doctrine, recently fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of manure by the clean end.”

Now I have full understanding.
