Letter: Disappointed by officials in Auglaize County case

I recently read the book “The Strange Case of Dr. Wine” by Brice Brenneman. I was appalled by the way Doug Wine was treated by the Auglaize County judicial system.

The sheriff’s office, the prosecutor and the judge all mishandled the case. They allowed an inept lie detector operator to mislead the facts, in spite of experts who testified to the test’s incorrect administration. The judge inappropriately changed the charges at the end of the trial to secure a prosecution.

The judge and the prosecutor are continuing to punish Dr. Wine today by denying the reinstatement of his license, even after experts have shown that he should be reinstated. I’m wondering why the citizens of Auglaize County allow their officials to perform such inappropriate conduct.
