Letter: GOP has nothing to stand on

The political climate in this country has been going downhill since Newt Gingrich came on the scene and encouraged the nastiness that we now see from the MAGA crowd by telling the party that the next generation of Republicans would have to learn to “raise hell,” to stop being so “nice,” to realize that politics was, above all, a cutthroat “war for power” — and to start acting like it. The GOP certainly took that message to heart.

When the GOP takes over the slim majority of the House in January, one of the first items on their agenda is bringing impeachment charges against Joe Biden. Now seriously folks, we all know this is just a game to get back at the Democrats for impeaching their Dear Leader, Donald Trump.

This will, of course, be a colossal waste of time. But it may be the only concrete thing that the right can come up with. There will be nothing to benefit the average worker, nothing to improve health care, education, or Social Security. Instead, there will just be something to please the 30 percent that still believes the election was stolen without one shred of credible evidence.
