Letter: Recent events rhyme with historical events

On the night of Feb. 27, 1933, the German parliament Reichstag Building was burned down in an act of arson. Adolf Hitler and his Nazi government used this as a false flag operation to frame their political opponents and suspend civil liberties. During the elections held in March, the Nazis alleged that a communist revolution was imminent, and only the Nazi party could stop it and save the country.

On Jan. 6, 2021, the U.S. Capitol Building was entered by protestors of the 2020 election. The facts surrounding their admittance into the building and the events that ensued are murky at best. President Joe Biden and his party have used this to justify a publicized political “trial” of the incident, raid the homes of President Donald Trump and his allies and to demonize half the county as “extremist MAGA Republicans.” President Biden has claimed that only he and his supporters are able to stop them and save the country.

History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.
