l am from Lima and now live overseas.
Let me preface this letter by stating I do not condone vandalism of property for any reason. That said, I can understand Ms. Shaeffer-Winget’s and Mr. Litke’s impetus for spray painting the New Life Assembly church.
According to a Sept. 7 article in The Lima News, the pastor believes the vandalism was “hate toward biblical truth.” But it is hate that pastor Wardle is preaching from his pulpit. Homosexuality is not a perversion. It is not a sin. Nor is it a “gay lifestyle” as referred to by The Lima News reporter.
Our sexuality is at the core of our being. It is who we are, not what we do. The same as being female, male, Caucasian, Asian, or heterosexual. I simply do not understand how those who profess to be Christians can cause so much pain and suffering and perpetuate such cruel persecution of a minority population. How very sad.
Instead of Leviticus on the church sign, try instead John 8:7, Romans 13:8-10, or my favorite, Matthew 23:22-24.
