Letter: Care was a mixed bag

I was diagnosed with cancer and had surgery at Mercy Health on Oct. 8. I had to stay in the hospital for two days. The room I had was in pediatrics. I am a 58-year-old woman.

The nurse was suppose to take me for a walk since I had surgery, but she would not do it. Instead she just gave me a shot in my stomach so I would not get blood clots.

The STNA thought I would be able to take a shower after having surgery. I could not even lift my arms up. I watched other patients being taken for a walk, but I was a bother to them. The chaplain came in to pray for me he asked if I lived in a nursing home. No I have my own apartment.

I would like to say thank you to the women at the Womens Wellness center at Mercy Health for the card they gave me when I had my biopsy. I would also like to say thank you to the three women that were in the room when I had my biopsy asking me if I was OK and letting me hold their hand while they did the biopsy.

Thank You to Dr. Davis, Dr. Balusu, Dr. Guillozet and their staff , Dr. Nelson at the Womens Wellness center, Dr. Hixenbaugh and his staff and Dr.Mrozek.
