Letter: Labor fuels local economy

This Labor Day, the Lima Building and Construction Trades Council celebrates the construction tradespeople who safely build and maintain the refineries, plants, and infrastructure that fuel our local economy.

Generations of highly trained local Building Tradespeople have made Lima a competitive location for industries to grow. When our local construction workers are employed in jobs that provide family-sustaining wages and full medical and retirement benefits, our local businesses and schools benefit, too. Already in 2021, the Lima Building Trades have donated $15,000 to charitable causes in our community.

Skilled workers are our region’s number one resource. This Labor Day, we salute the men and women who build this community. Hats off to Lima’s working families – and to local leaders for their commitment to keeping middle class construction jobs in our community.

Rick Perdue, President, Lima Building and Construction Trades Council
