Mark Figley: Why do we tolerate the brainwashing?

Just as the media and the U.S. government once went to great lengths to humanize and shine a light on Russia’s “Uncle Joe” Stalin, similar daily efforts are undertaken on the behalf of Joe Biden. Yet with every new policy he presents, it is evident that our current president is the most dangerous and radical in history.

One of the most recent examples is the Education Department plan to provide grants to K-12 schools in support of critical race theory (CRT); which will teach America’s children that their country is systemically racist.

Grants would be prioritized for schools that integrate the theory in history and civics and highlight the 1619 project; which argues that America’s true founding occurred in the year that slaves arrived in the Virginia colony.

In addition to its contention that racism is everywhere and that to deny it is to spread such oppression, Biden’s proposal hampers parents and teachers who seek to instill kids with positive attitudes and behaviors in adulthood. For instance, last summer, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture actually described “white culture” as oppressive, and characterized “hard work” and “being polite” as evidence of systemic racism.

The Smithsonian even opposed the concepts of “work before play” and “plan for the future” because they represent power. And although officials removed much of this material after widespread opposition surfaced, such attitudes still exist within critical race content.

Some states are already on-board with Biden’s plan; creating education content which bases student treatment on skin color and emphasizing bias against others depending on ethnicity.

Several California school districts have developed new math curriculum for “students of color in challenging capitalist, imperialist, racist views.” California’s Education Department has also recommended content which says that “anti-blackness and white supremacy are baked into our country’s foundation.”

Illinois’ new teacher certification standards state that educators should “assess how their biases and perceptions affect their teaching practice,” including one’s “unearned privilege.” Meanwhile, Michigan’s “Educator Advisory Council” believes every act is racist; the question is “how much?”

These are the priorities of Joe Biden and his leftist education establishment, which would tag on to legislation introduced in the U.S. Senate in support of CRT.

The issue of race is literally tearing America apart at the seams, and our nation’s children are being bombarded with it on a daily basis. The question is, why do we tolerate the daily brainwashing of our kids as oppressors or oppressed in spreading racial division and institutionalized discrimination into our national psyche?

Powerful forces are actively seeking to destroy Martin Luther King’s vision of a truly color-blind society. House Republicans have finally introduced legislation to prohibit the teaching of CRT within federal institutions, blocking federal funds from schools which teach it, and preventing federal funds from paying for teaching CRT. This will at least force Democrats to go on record regarding their official stance on the issue.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden continues to lead the way on this dangerous concept. As America’s uniter-in-chief, he supposes himself as a great equalizer, yet his efforts on behalf of CRT are contributing to nothing less than unadulterated child abuse in the name of racial equity.
