Letter: Get-it-done attitude

For more than 100 years, Building Trades unions have built the greater Lima region safely and with pride. This Labor Day, the Lima Building and Construction Trades Council celebrates the essential workers who have served the public during the pandemic.

Lima’s Building Trades people stayed on the job along with other essential workers. Our construction workers, their unions and employers quickly put in place infectious disease protocols that prevented outbreaks in our region’s critical construction jobsites. Because of them, our power plants, water facilities, refineries, hospitals, roadways and infrastructure stayed operational. This was key to stopping even greater economic damage in our region.

This is the get-it-done attitude and commitment to safety that defines Building Trades people. Give us a challenge, and we will overcome. It’s that attitude that makes our workers great. And great workers are our region’s number one resource.

Remember to thank the essential tradespeople in our community this Labor Day weekend. They’ve built this community, and they work hard every day to make it better.

Rick Perdue

President, Lima Building and Construction Trades Council
