Letter: World today a crying shame

I am 70 years old and have post traumatic stress disorder. I cry each time I see another statue being threatened in any way.

I have been a registered nurse for 38 years. In that time I have seen many people die too early because they did not do preventive care measurements to reduce deadly outcomes. That is human nature.

That makes me sad because much of this human nature the past seven months have lead to uncalled for deaths.

I remember reading “Black Like Me” decades ago. We need to think outside our skin color. I know I would have been a different person had I been born non-white.

We may not have a human race if:

• We do not stop killing each other.

• We do not wear a mask and practice social distancing (It’s basic science).
