Letter: We shall never forget this gift

I was blessed with one of the most gratifying experiences of my life on Sept 7. The opportunity to participate in and receive the astute pleasure of the Honor Flight from Dayton to Washington DC. was granted myself along with a great number of Vietnam and WWII veterans.

The trip was planned and executed flawlessly by a group of extremely kind and wonderful individuals under the direction of Frontier Technology Inc. and its associates. Transportation to and from Dayton was provided by the kindness of Wapak Ford, which provided a beautiful bus and fantastic driver. We were treated as never before with respect for our past service and with meals beyond reproach. Wheelchairs were provided for those of us unable to traverse the distance and tended by dolting guardians of extreme care.

To view the memorials and countless row upon row of crosses of our fallen in the name of freedom and the changing of the guard at the tomb of The Unknown Shoulder was a totally somber event. Upon the return to the Dayton Airport, we were greeted by thousands of cheering, whistling adults, beautiful children, dignitaries and even our canine friends. There was an honor guard, band, singing of The National Anthem, a moment of silence and the playing of taps. The welcome home was one never given to The Vietnam Veterans until now, and many a moist eye was wiped. We shall never forget this gift. God Bless.
