Lima Senior student earns fraternity scholarship

LIMA — Lima Senior High School senior Jourdyn Rawlins is this year’s Lima winner of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Scholarship.

The scholarship goes to the African American male with the highest academic standing at the school. Rawlings has a 4.0 grade point average.

Rawlins, a senior at Lima Senior High School, has maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking challenging classes, including college classes. He plans to study business or health services administration in college. He’s been accepted to the University of Findlay and Xavier University and anticipates receiving more acceptance letters from colleges.

A native of the U.S. Virgin Islands who moved to Lima in the eighth grade, Rawlins has participated in varsity basketball and track all four years of his high school career. He played on the Under Armour AAU Basketball circuit with C2K Elite, becoming part of a nationally ranked AAU team. He also is the public relations officer for DECA, has been inducted into National Honor Society and is part of the Black Student Union.
