Ohio Northern student awarded psychology research grant


ADA — Ohio Northern University senior psychology major Ian Smith was recently awarded an undergraduate research grant from Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology.

The $1,500 grant will help fund a research project entitled “Examination of changes in neurotransmitter levels and inflammatory protein expression in females exposed to a rodent model of post-traumatic stress disorder.”

The grant placed in the top 11 applications that were submitted to Psi Chi during this funding cycle. Smith is the head research assistant in psychology faculty member Phillip Zoladz’s research laboratory.
