ST. MARYS — Midwest Electric recently sponsored a SAFE Hearts Family Education bundle for St. Marys Intermediate School, which includes 10 books, a board game, and a parents’ guide – all with the purpose of empowering families to have difficult conversations in a safe and fun way.
The bundle was purchased through Damsel in Defense, an organization aimed at equipping, empowering, and educating women to protect themselves and their families. SAFE Hearts provides educational materials to familiarize and inspire children and teens to identify threats through awareness and encourage courageous decision-making.
Midwest Electric’s Business Development Coordinator Dave Waltermire presented the bundle to St. Marys West Intermediate School Principle Lisa Elson, alongside Senior Mentor and Damsel in Defense Representative Gwen Horn. Horn is also the wife of Midwest Electric Equipment Operator Steve Horn.
Midwest Electric is considering sponsorship of this program for additional schools in the future. If your organization or school is interested, please reach out to Gwen Horn at [email protected] To learn more about the SAFE Hearts program, visit safehearts.damselindefense.net.
