LIMA — South Science and Technology Magnet School eighth-graders will begin filming their mockumentary on William A. Fowler on Thursday.
Students are working with Modo Media to create “The Fowler Kids: Search for a Hero” mockumentary that follows the students’ real-life quest to get something in the city of Lima named after Fowler, a graduate of Lima City Schools and an OSU graduate who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1983 for showing how all of the natural elements in the Periodic Table are forged under extreme conditions across the course of a star’s lifetime.
A trailer for the mockumentary will be completed next month in time for the series and the students’ visit to OSU-Lima, with the final product being completed this winter. The students’ goals is to go through the proper channels to actually get something named in honor of Fowler.
The project is part of this year’s Stardust: The William A. Fowler Science Series. The series is a partnership with the Lima City Schools, City of Lima and Ohio State University at Lima.
