VAN WERT — Several Vantage Career Center students placed in the top three in their categories at the 2018-19 SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships, held recently at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus.

Matthew Schmiesing (Crestview), Senior Construction Equipment Technology, received bronze in Heavy Equipment Operations.

Trevor Siefker (Kalida), Junior Precision Machining, received gold in Precision Machining.

Adam Schnipke (Ottoville), Senior Precision Machining, received silver in CNC Milling.

Connor Hoersten (Fort Jennings), Senior Precision Machining, received gold in CNC Technician.

Samantha Backus (Kalida), Senior Precision Machining, received gold in CNC turning.
