OMEA concert set for Sunday in Van Wert


ELIDA — Elida High School musicians are ready to perform in the Ohio Music Education Association District 3 Honors Band, Choir and Jazz Band at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert.

OMEA District 3 represents eight counties and more than 60 high schools. Nearly 400 musicians auditioned for the three groups.

Members of the Elida music department that auditioned and were accepted into the concert band include Thomas Williamson (bass clarinet) and Ethan Bowersock (euphonium). Members of the jazz band include Isaiah Wolfert (alto saxophone). In the choir is Ryan Vetters (tenor).

Dr. Brich Browning from Cleveland State University will conduct the concert band. Dr. Lynda Hasseler of Capital University will conduct the choir. John Stetler, Elida’s band director, and David Sycks, of Bluffton High School, will conduct jazz band.
