Lima South receives honor from state


LIMA — The Ohio Department of Education announced South Science and Technology Magnet in Lima received a “High Progress School of Honor” award.

For the second year in a row, South was selected a “School of Honor” for student growth and closing the achievement gaps in math and reading on its 2018 report card. To qualify, a school must serve at least 40 percent economically disadvantaged students, have 90 percent of all students rated proficient and 80 percent in various subgroups, earn an A or B on the overall value-added measure on the report carp and earn an A, B or C on the gap closing component of the report card.
