ST MARYS — Sue Hoge, 98, of New Knoxville, returned to St. Marys Memorial High School 80 years after graduating to see her Memorial High School Band Hall of Fame plaque.

The plaque commemorates Hoge being the first female student admitted to the school’s marching band when she was a freshman in 1935.

Hoge toured the school, viewed the plaque and spoke with the students about marching band in the 1930s, what changed over time and what has endured.
