Lima Senior High School hosting Rotary Speech Contest


Rotary speech contest, 9 a.m., Lima Senior High School Auditorium, 1 Spartan Way, Lima. Four area residents will be competing in the contest. The winner will collect $300 and advance to Districts on April 14 for a chance to win $500.

LIMA — Lima Senior High School will hold the Rotary speech contest at 9 a.m. Saturday, in the school auditorium, 1 Spartan Way, Lima. The contest was open to area schools.

Four students are participating, including Cassie Phillips, Nur-Huda Mahammad and Reilie Lyons, all from Lima Senior, and Alexis Ball, of Bath High School.

The speech is centered around Rotary’s Four-Way Test to an important issue, “Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all?” Each speech must be between five and seven minutes long.

The winner of the local contest will win $300 and advance to districts on April 14 at Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert. The first place winner at districts wins $500.
