LIMA — In an effort to improve programs, educational material and health equipment, Activate Allen County and St. Rita’s Health Partners will award $2,000 to six Activated School Challenge recipients.
Allen East, Bath, Delphos Jefferson, Lima Central Catholic, Spencerville, and Temple Christian school districts will be recognized at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the St. Rita’s Auxiliary Conference Center.
The challenge began as a way to help local schools in implementing school wellness programs and intervention.
“Research tells us that if we can instill healthy lifestyle habits in our school-age children, we can set them up for a lifetime of healthy living,” said Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Vice President of Mission and Values Integration, Amy Marcum, in a news release. “In order for us to fulfill our mission of building healthier communities, we need to support the excellent work of our schools and teachers as they work diligently to incorporate wellness into their everyday curriculums.”
