Area high school students place in Bluffton University Mathematics Competition

BLUFFTON — Bluffton University held its 15th annual Bluffton University Mathematics Competition recently.

There were 65 students from 17 high schools competing in the test. Students competed during a one hour test consisting of short-answer questions covering a range of math topics through pre-calculus. Cash prizes were awarded to top finishers.

Top finishers included:

First place overall: Christopher Harnish, Bluffton.

Second place overall: Benjamin Heck, Liberty-Benton.

First place junior: Daivd Stirn, Shawnee.

Second place junior: Gabriel Ferraiuolo, Chippewa.

First place sophomore: Alotus Wei, Shawnee.

First place freshman: Ben Horstman, Ottoville.

Second place sophomore/freshman: Anna Kahle, Lima Central Catholic.
