Unity class to hold recurring video chat with students in Fort Worth

LIMA — A group of students at Unity Elementary School will take part in a Google Hangouts video chat with students from Fort Worth, Texas, with the first session set to begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The idea for the video chat began with Unity teacher Renee Pranses and her daughter Abigail Offenbaker, a Lima Senior graduate who works with the instructional technology department at the Castleberry school district in Fort Worth. This led to a partnership between students in Pranses’ class and a class at Irma Middle School in Fort Worth.

While Friday’s first chat will be a meet and greet, the recurring video chat will go into a study in social studies and geography, as well as fostering discussions about current events.
