COLUMBUS — An Allen East eighth grader was a first-place winner in a traffic safety poster contest sponsored by AAA.
Colton Abbey made a poster on “How to be a good passenger,” winning the top honor along with several other students from across the state.
Students in first through 12th grades competed and received cash prizes, along with special recognition during a recent ceremony at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
The AAA Traffic Safety Poster Program aims to reduce traffic and pedestrian crashes which are the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 3 and 14. Students pick a safety category and illustrate it on a poster under the supervision of a teacher or youth leader. Abbey competed in the junior high school category, and all students created posters under the same theme.
