Independence Elementary’s K-Kids Club starts Welcome Patrol

LIMA — Independence Elementary School, 615 Tremont Ave., Lima, is host to a new program, Welcome Patrol.

The school’s K-Kids Club started Welcome Patrol to welcome each pupil to school and offer positive comments and compliments. At least one member off K-Kids is posted at two school entrances each morning between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. These students hold a flag with the words, “Welcome Friends.”

The idea for the program came from Start With Hello, a project that stemmed from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
