WAPAKONETA — A new café, Nourish u, is coming to the Wapakoneta YMCA.

Sisters and Wapakoneta natives Melissa Metz and Alisha Frost founded Nourish u in 2013, three years after Frost was diagnosed with cancer. The sisters wanted to see more organic and plant-based foods in their hometown, so they started a food truck and catering business specializing in smoothies, salads, veggie bowls and TLT sandwiches, or a BLT with avocado and tempeh rather than bacon. The sisters are also known for their chocolate peanut butter oat and date protein bites.

The café will move into the Wapakoneta YMCA in September 2020. Midwest Electric recently made a small business loan to the company. The low-interest loan was provided through the co-op’s Revolving Loan Fund, which aims to support local businesses and empower the community.
