Elida Police Department attains state recerfification standards

COLUMBUS — The Elida Police Department has joined the list of police departments statewide that recently completed the Ohio Collaborative recertification process.

Karhlton Moore, executive director of the Office of Criminal Justice Services, announced that Elida and four other police departments completed the recertification, which takes place on a revolving, three- to four-year cycle.

There are 454 agencies employing more than 26,000 officers that are certified, meeting standards for the use of force, including deadly force, and agency recruitment and hiring.

The state has partnered with the Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association and the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police to help certify Ohio’s nearly 900 law enforcement agencies on a process to ensure that they are in compliance with Ohio’s new standards.
