Fire chief named to governor’s group; firefighters join hazmat team

BATH TOWNSHIP — Firefighter-paramedics Curtis Yetman and Kevin Markward have earned their hazmat-weapons of mass destruction certifications.

The five-day, 40-hour course focuses on emergency responses to hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction, held at the Shawnee Township Fire Department.

Yetman started his career with the Bath Township Fire Department in August 2016. Markward has been with the department since May 2018. Both firefighters will now serve as hazmat technicians on the Allen County Hazmat Team.

Also, Bath Township Fire Chief Joe Kitchen has been appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine to serve on the governor’s newly formed Ohio School Safety Working Group. Kitchen will serve on behalf of the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association.
