LIMA — Lima-based telecommunications provider Watch Communications has acquired Beyond Media Networks, a wireless internet provider based in Illinois.

Watch Communications now claims upwards of 2,000 subscribers in three states.

“Beyond (Media) brings a solid baseline from which we will build our Illinois and western Indiana operations, fulfilling a component of our mission to deliver reliable, high-speed broadband internet to rural America using fixed wireless and fiber solutions,” Watch Communications President and CEO Chris Daniels said in a press release announcing the acquisition.

The Lima company, founded in 1992, is also partnering with Microsoft’s Airband Initiative to extend broadband service to an estimated 4 million households in rural and underserved areas in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
