WAPAKONETA — The Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council is seeking a new executive director as the agency’s current director, Greg Myers, plans to retire in March 2020.

Myers joined WAEDC in November 2005. Much of his work has centered around the West Central Ohio Industrial Center, which became a certified job-ready site in 2010.

WAEDC claims companies have invested more than $550 million in the past five years at the industrial park, with another $500 million in investments expected.

The search for a new executive director is already underway, WAEDC Board President Mike Burton confirmed in a press release announcing Myers’s departure.

“We will be sorry to lose Greg next year,” Burton said in a statement. “He has done an outstanding job for our community.”

Myers said the goal is for a new director to join the agency before his departure to ensure a smooth transition.
